Album Choice: Making Up My Mind

Earlier on in my blog, I came up with a shortlist containing my favourite picks from the brief. The shortlist included a few choices that I took an interest in.

The shortlist was as follows:

  1. Kraftwerk - 'Trans Europe Express'
  2. Kate Bush - 'Hounds of Love'
  3. 'Children's Bedtime Stories'
  4. Kyary Pamyu Pamyu - 'Pika Pika Fantajin'
With my shortlist selection I looked at each album, and collected research on both the music, and the artist.

After looking at my shortlist, I have decided I would like to look at producing work on Kate Bush's album, 'Hounds of Love', because I feel its the choice that will give me the most challenge, due to her experimental style.

Kate Bush is one of my favourite musicians, I really adore her style of performing as well as her deep song writing skills.
At first I was expressing a lot of interest in the third album on my shortlist, which was 'Children's Bedtime Stories', due to my tendency to develop for a children's market, such as in previous modules. (Narrative Illustration is an example of this).
It will also result in me breaking out of my comfort zone, which is a really healthy practise.

I have already listened to the entire album, (many of the songs multiple times).
I have listened to 'Hounds of Love' the most however as it appears to be the main track on the album.

Listening to the 'Hounds of Love' album was the most interesting to me out of the other 3 choices.
The other choices were interesting as well however, in fact, I came very close to choosing the children's bedtime stories album over Kate's.
All of the albums that I added to the research shortlist, are available on either Spotify, iTunes, or youtube, so they were easy to listen to.
