The Importance of Bleeds

The use of bleeds in documents are a very key part of developing work for industry.
I began incorporating the use of bleeds into my work, at level 4, and this practise continues on into level 5, 6 and beyond.

My final illustration with a 5mm bleed added to it.

The most widely used bleed measurement in industry, is 5mm, however there can be other variants, such as 10mm, or higher.
The bleed allows a level of tolerance when cutting.

I have used bleeds on all of my final pieces, including my album cover, poster, product, and editorial.
I have used different bleeds ranging from the minimum of 5mm, to 10mm.
