Product Development #1 (Initial thoughts)

I want to look into designing a product that is based around something different, compared to such generic products as cards, stationary, apparel, etc.

I have been looking into the world of limited edition prints, and I have noticed that this is a huge market.
There are many stores that sell limited edition prints to consumers, for example, such stores as Nobrow, and such online stores as ebay.
(Examples featured below in order of listing).

I have been thinking lately about making a limited edition ticket, theoretically to be sold alongside regular tickets, (however I will only be focusing on the limited edition version).
This makes my limited edition ticket the actual product that I wish to design for, as it ticks all the boxes of the definition of a product.

Another example of an event ticket.

Tickets can be highly collectable items for music followers, and the design of tickets can possibly influence consumers to buy them.

I will display a few examples, showing how tickets can be sold as collectable items, some are even sold by companies/artists, tapping into the collectable market.

Recently, Kate Bush had a series of 'Before The Dawn' concerts in London.
The initial tickets for the first set of her concerts sold out in a matter of minutes, and in the post-event stage, some people are even selling their tickets on such auction sites as ebay, to be bought by collectors.

This goes to show that concert tickets can be seen as a type of product, and can even be sold by event companies in the run up to a concert or gig, perhaps even charging a higher, premium price to consumers so they can have a 'special' ticket in consumer's eyes.

Kate Bush has created special tickets before, and the whole story can be seen above in the image, and also via the link.
When the first batches of 'Before The Dawn' tickets went on sale, occasionally a consumer would receive a 'special fan ticket', (if ordered via the Eventim site).
Kate was told to have 'embraced' the idea, so it was authorised by herself.

The consumer market is there, for the sale of limited edition tickets, as there will be some people willing to pay an extra fee, in order to get their hands on a limited ticket.

Kate Bush is a very popular artist, and she has a massive fanbase, so I can see the production and sale of a limited edition ticket as a product that could be a big success.

Above are a few examples of people selling Kate Bush event tickets, in this case, on such worldwide auction sites as ebay.

I will now come up with some rough concepts for my limited edition ticket design.
